Humanizing Nature in Romantic Poetry from an Ecocritical Perspective: A Stylistic Comparison between Two Poems by Mikhail Naimy and Omar Al-Nass

This study aims to employ ecocriticism to explore the phenomenon of "humanizing nature" and its stylistic dimensions in modern Romantic poetry. The research consists of a theoretical introduction and three applied sections. The introduction discusses the concept of humanizing nature within Romantic poetry and approaches it from the perspective of ecocriticism. The first and second sections analyze the poetic techniques of humanizing nature used by the poets Mikhail Naimy and Omar Al-Nass in their respective poems "The Frozen River" and "A Withered Leaf". The third section presents a stylistic and semantic comparison between the two poems using a combined stylistic and ecocritical approach. It concludes that the human–nature relationship, as required by environmental awareness, is not necessarily a romantic bond between a praising or lamenting subject and a passive object, but rather a balanced, reciprocal relationship within a broader and more enduring ecological context.
