Abstract

This study examines the poetry of Khalid Ali Mustafa as a model of contemporary poetic experience deeply engaged with the Palestinian cause, employing intertextuality as both an artistic and visionary tool. The analysis reveals that the poet does not invoke classical, religious, or poetic texts merely for aesthetic embellishment or imitation; rather, he recontextualizes them within his unique poetic vision, thereby imbuing his verses with layered semantic depth. The poems exhibit a narrative structure and a dense symbolic repertoire that reconstruct the Palestinian landscape as a space of resistance and memory. Epic features are also present in his work, transforming personal experience into a collective one and rewriting Palestinian suffering through a language that merges symbolism, history, and reality. Thus, the poet establishes a poetic presence that aligns with modernist poetics—engaging with tradition while simultaneously transcending it—and conveys a profound humanistic and national message.
