Abstract

The cultural factors in Iraqi society such as values, traditions and customs have the greatest impact on crime, as most societies strive to instill social values ​​in the hearts of individuals, because they are important in the work to protect the individual from falling into crime and prevention of delinquency. Crime as an inherent phenomenon since ancient times is not devoid of any human societies and is nothing but a reaction to several social, psychological, environmental, educational, economic and cultural factors, and the crime varies in nature, forms, types and methods from one society to another and from time to time depending on the diversity of economic and social conditions And cultural. Therefore, crime is a social phenomenon before it is legal and is a natural consequence of the state of conflict between members of society and social pressures.

      The study aims at identifying the factors that influence criminal behavior, and identifying the means by which all intellectuals, clerics, and tribal leaders can redirect members of society to the need to abide by the inherited social values ​​and norms that were the basis for the stability of social control. It aims to work with the responsible authorities involved in maintaining the social order by confronting the dangers of crime and promoting the role of true social values ​​and customs that contribute to building society and reducing crime. Accordingly, this study seeks to employ the social approach  in the field study, using the questionnaire form to obtain accurate information and facts required by the study, The study reached a set of results, the most important of which is that the percentage of variables affecting the commission of murder crimes was the place where the crime occurred, as it obtained the highest percentage of (86%). This shows us that urban social environments have a large increase in the number of residents, and murder crimes are more common, and the security services are weak, and therefore they are less controlled than rural environments.
