The effect of a counseling program in my style (changing the rules - self-talk) in developing self-independence among female middle school students

The current research aims to investigate the impact of a counseling program based on self-talk and rule-changing techniques on developing autonomy among preparatory stage students. To achieve objectives and test its hypotheses, the researcher adopted a quasi-experimental design with three groups: two experimental groups and one control group. The research sample consisted of 10 female students per group, randomly assigned to the study groups.
The researcher utilized an Autonomy Scale comprising 28 items to measure the dependent variable. A counseling program was designed based on the rule-changing and self-talk techniques. The results revealed that the counseling program had a statistically significant effect in enhancing autonomy, with the outcomes favoring both experimental groups (Experimental Group 1 and Experimental Group 2) compared to the control group. Based on the findings, the researcher drew several conclusions and provided aligned with the study’s results.
