Abstract

The study investigated the role of psychological well-being and resilience in reducing suicide risk among students at the University of Diyala, and examined relationships among these variables as well as differences by gender, academic level, and specialization. A descriptive correlational design was used with a sample of 300 male and female students. Research instruments were developed and validated, showing acceptable face validity (80%) and reliability via Cronbach’s alpha. Statistical analyses included descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation, t-tests, and one-way ANOVA. Results revealed moderate levels of psychological well-being, resilience, and suicide risk. Significant negative correlations were found between psychological well-being and suicide risk, and between resilience and suicide risk, while a positive correlation existed between well-being and resilience. Significant differences emerged according to gender and academic level, but not specialization. The study recommends strengthening psychological support services and implementing programs to enhance students’ resilience and mental well-being in university settings for prevention.
