This research aims to examine the consistency between the linguistic and argumentative dimensions in Abu Hamzah al-Thumali's supplication, based on discursive references. It begins with the hypothesis that the linguistic structure of the text functions not merely as a collection of words but as a rhetorical tool to achieve specific communicative goals for the speaker—Imam Zain al-Abidin, peace be upon him—toward the addressee—Allah, the Almighty—and the audience of these rhetorical texts. The study adopts a descriptive-analytical, qualitative approach that combines grammatical analysis of the text's structures, analysis of its argumentative aspects, communicative strategies, and an examination of the argumentative framework—whether through argumentative rules and laws or linguistic devices like interrogation, emphasis, appeal, negation, etc.—to create an immediate impact on the addressee, achieve the intended result, gain acceptance of the arguments presented, and explain how selected parts of the supplication are systematically constructed. It shows how linguistic structures establish logical justifications, lead to persuasive outcomes, and produce specific communicative effects.
