The research discusses the art of investigative journalism as one of the most important journalistic arts. From this standpoint, the researcher tried to shed light on this journalistic art in the Iraqi press through a theoretical analysis of its reality and its role in societal issues as an effective oversight tool. The research deals with journalistic investigation in Iraq: its nature and tools, the challenges facing it, and its role in accountability and exposing corruption. The research also adopts the analytical and descriptive approach based on a literature review.Therefore, the aim of the research is to clarify that reality, and to analyze the influential role of journalistic investigation in achieving conscious societal oversight. The research concluded that journalistic investigation is an effective means of supporting accountability and enhancing community oversight. The research also provided practical recommendations to enhance the journalistic investigative environment in Iraq.
