Abstract

The Maqamat (literary assemblies) are considered among the most important literary arts that gained significant popularity in both ancient Arabic and global prose, as well as in modern storytelling and theater. In terms of language, their expressions contain an immense richness from the linguistic treasury, distinguished by the ease and clarity of the words. On one hand, this aspect indicates the fluency and clarity of the language, while on the other hand, it reflects the eloquence of the speaker. From a psychological perspective, the Maqamat played a crucial role because they signify the spirit of humor, amusement, satire, or mockery of the political, economic, and social situations of that time. This highlights the creative narrative brilliance through its linguistic craftsmanship, which stands out from other literary arts due to its skillful performance and vivid portrayal of events. The Maqamat were not solely aimed at advising and guiding; rather, their main purpose was satire and mockery.
