The Religious Experience in Contemporary Western Thought by William James: Its Limits and Prospects

This study aim to analyze the nature of religious experience in William James ,as well as to uncover its horizons on both the theoretical and levels .it attempted to penetrate the human self , with the aim of uncovering its hidden implications ,the unknown effects and powers, and the infinite in its manifestations and manifestations. It was able present a systematic synthesis that combined within its folds what is human, which internalizes the self and its hidden aspects, with what is religious and spiritual , which transcends that self and elevates it to the highest levels, provided that man always remains the starting point and the ultimate goal at the same time. Hence, religious did not present what was its source. James drew inspiration from it for all the sources of strength and worked to stimulate them as a mere problematic subject that establishes a critique of life in contemporary western civilization to the extent that it strengthens it, in addition to the sources of weakness that he sometimes worked to correct or overcome at other time.
