Publication Rules in Wasit Journal for Humanities

Wasit Journal for Humanities is a quarterly, peer-reviewed journal published by the University of Wasit. It focuses on unpublished scientific research in the fields of philosophy, linguistics, and social sciences.

Publication Conditions

  • The journal publishes original scientific research in the fields of philosophy, linguistics, and social sciences, written in Arabic or English.
  • The research must not have been previously published or submitted for publication in another journal, and the researcher must commit not to submit it elsewhere until a decision has been made.
  • The research should not be part of a published book.
  • The research or any part of it cannot be published elsewhere after being approved for publication in the Wasit Journal for Humanities without written permission from the editor-in-chief.
  • The author must disclose sources of funding for their research.
  • Research submissions to the journal are not returned, whether published or not.

Please adhere to the following publication guidelines:

  • The research title should be in both English and Arabic, along with the abstract in both languages,not more than 200 words. Include the researcher's details and email in both languages, as well as keywords in English and Arabic, and a phone number for quick contact.
  • References in the text should be cited as follows: (author's last name, year of publication, and page number), according to the APA citation style. Footnotes should not be used for citations.
  • All internet links should be removed from the text and placed in the references list, with the quoted text in the main text marked with a number or symbol.
  • Citations from research published in our journal are required, even if the citation is from the author's own research published in our journal or other journals such as Lark, College of Education for Humanities, and Aziziyah. The DOI of the cited research must be mentioned in the reference list.

  • Translate the Arabic references list into English.

Peer Review

  • All submitted research is sent to specialists for peer review according to scientific protocols. Final acceptance is given after the author makes the necessary revisions requested by the reviewers. However, researchers are responsible for the contents of their research, and the published research represents the author's views, not the journal's. The editorial board is not responsible for it.
  • All research submitted to the journal undergoes an initial review by the editorial board to determine its eligibility for peer review and adherence to publication rules. The board has the right to reject any research without providing reasons.

Manuscript Requirements

  • The journal publishes the following types of research only:
    • The research should not exceed 20 pages (A4 size). An additional fee of 5000 IQD per extra page is required.
    • The research should include a title and abstract in both Arabic and English (about 200 words each), keywords in both languages, and a brief biography of the author(s).
    • The author's name and current address should be included after the research title in both languages.
  • The research should be typed in Times New Roman, size 14, single-sided, with 5 spacing between lines.
  • The research should ideally include the following sections:
    • Introduction: Including the theoretical framework and integrated previous studies without a separate title.
    • Research problem, objectives, questions, or hypotheses.
    • Importance of the study.
    • Study limitations (if any).
    • Definitions of terms.
  • Study procedures:
    • Population and sample.
    • Study tool.
    • Validity and reliability of the tool.
    • Study instructions.
    • Study methodology.
    • Presentation of results.
    • Discussion of results.
    • Conclusions and recommendations.
  • Charts and figures should be included in the text, numbered sequentially, with titles and explanatory notes below them.
  • Tables should be included in the text, numbered sequentially, with titles above and explanatory notes below.
  • Margins should be 1.5 cm on all sides of the page.
  • Footnotes should be used only when necessary and placed at the bottom of the page.
  • The APA citation style should be followed for in-text references.
  • The references list should be alphabetically ordered by the author's surname and follow the APA style at the end of the research. A number should be included in the text when using a reference.

      • Book: Al-Khojali, Ahmed. (2004). Principles of Solid-State Physics, 2nd ed. Khartoum: Azza Publishing and Distribution.
      • Journal article: Saadallah, Khaled, and Salman, Mohamed. (2004). The Future of Higher Education in the Arab World. Journal of Educational and Psychological Sciences, University of Bahrain, 5(1), 33-56.
      • Book chapter: Al-Salama, Mahmoud. (2004). The Impact of Aggressive TV Programs on Children's Behavior. In Salim Al-Mahmoud (Ed.), TV and Children, (pp. 123-146). Amman: Dar Al-Maseerah for Publishing and Distribution.
      • Conference paper: Awad, Mohamed. (2005). Analytical Study of the Impact of the Stock Market on the National Economy. Paper presented at the National Economy in the 21st Century Conference, University of Sharjah, October 14-15, 2005.
      • Thesis: Bishara, Muwaffaq. (2003). The Effect of a Training Program for Higher-Order Thinking Skills on Developing Critical and Creative Thinking Among Tenth Grade Students. Unpublished PhD thesis, Yarmouk University, Jordan.
  • Page numbers should be included in the text only when quoting directly, and footnotes should be used only when necessary, marked with a number or asterisk.

Required Submissions

  • The researcher should upload an electronic copy of the research written in Microsoft Word for Windows on the journal's website: Wasit Journal for Humanities. The electronic copy alone is sufficient.
  • The researcher should attach a biography including their name in both Arabic and English, current workplace, academic rank, and main research works.
  • A submission letter.
  • A publication commitment.
  • A fee of 100,000 IQD for researchers from Iraq and 100 USD for researchers from outside Iraq. Payment can be made directly at the journal's office located on the first floor of the Cultural Center building, College of Education for Pure Sciences, or through a transfer via Zain Cash (see details in publication cost).
