حظيت معاناة الأطفال في نصوص النزاعات باهتمام محدود من منظور سيميائي، ولا سيما في الدراسات التي تقارن بين السياقين التاريخي والمعاصر. تتناول هذه الدراسة تمثيل معاناة الأطفال في نصوص مختارة من مأساة كربلاء وأزمة غزة. وتعتمد منهجية نوعية، إذ تحلل أربعة مقتطفات من خلال تطبيق النموذج السيميولوجي لبارت (1968) على مستويات العلامة والدلالة المباشرة والدلالة الإيحائية. ويركز التحليل على تمثيل العطش والحرمان والتدمير في النصوص المختارة، وكيفية الحفاظ على هذه المعاني من خلال تكرار الأنماط السيميائية. وتوضح النتائج أن المعاناة تُمثَّل من خلال الحرمان من الموارد الأساسية وفقدان المساحات الآمنة. كما تبين أن الماء يرتبط بالإتاحة والمنع، في حين يرتبط المأوى بصورة مستمرة بالحضور الإنساني والنزوح والهشاشة والتعرّض للخطر في كل من السياقين التاريخي والمعاصر. وتسلط الدراسة الضوء على استمرارية المعاناة عبر السياقات التاريخية من منظور التمثيل السيميائي.
