يواجه العالم اليوم تهديدًا وجوديًا نتيجة التدهور البيئي المتسارع. وتُعدّ الأزمة البيئية العالمية من أكثر القضايا إلحاحًا في العصر الحديث. ويُشير مصطلح "العنف البطيء"، وهو أحد أشكال النقد البيئي، إلى الضرر التدريجي المتراكم بمرور الوقت على كلٍّ من الإنسان والبيئة. تسعى هذه الدراسة إلى تطبيق مفهوم "العنف البطيء" الوارد في كتاب "العنف البطيء ونزعة حماية البيئة لدى الفقراء" لروب نيكسون، على النضال الفلسطيني كما صُوِّر في رواية سوزان أبو الهوى "صباحات في جنين". وقد اعتُمد منهج تحليلي نوعي لدراسة الضرر البيئي والاجتماعي والنفسي الذي لحق بالأفراد في الرواية. تُبيّن الرواية كيف يُعيد هذا الضرر التراكمي تشكيل الهوية والذاكرة والعلاقة بين الناس وأرضهم عبر الزمن. وتُشير النتائج إلى أن النزوح والحرب يدفعان الناس إلى تجربة نوع من العنف، وهو عنف خفي وتدريجي.
