تُحلل هذه الدراسة دور التراث الشعبي في تعزيز الهوية الثقافية للفرد خلال فترات الشدائد الشخصية والاجتماعية. وتُركز الدراسة على كيفية عرض الكاتب الكويتي سعود السنوسي لدور التراث الشعبي في تقديم رؤية مُعمّقة للهوية الثقافية لمختلف المجتمعات في روايته "ساق البامبو" (2012)، مُسلّطًا الضوء على التراث الثقافي للفلبين والكويت. ومن خلال دراسة التفاعل بين الأساطير والعادات والحكايات الشعبية، تُسلّط هذه الرواية الضوء على دور التراث الشعبي كآلية للاستمرارية الثقافية والمرونة. وتُبيّن الدراسة أن هذه العناصر الشعبية تُوفّر شعورًا بالاستقرار النفسي وتُعطي الشخصيات شعورًا بالانتماء من خلال التعامل مع قضايا مُعقّدة، كالهوية والاغتراب. وتخلص الدراسة إلى أن التراث الشعبي يُمثّل ركيزةً شخصيةً وجماعيةً تُمكّن الأفراد والجماعات من مواجهة الإحباط والاغتراب والتشتت والتغلب عليهما.
