Egypt represented an influential and important strategy in the context of British plans aimed at establishing its presence in the Suez Canal. Therefore, the British policy of containment was confirmed in light of the application of British protection over Egypt in 1914, but these measures failed in the face of the independence movement in Egypt, which sparked the “Revolution of 1919,” so it made Britain working back following its policy to contain the activities of the revolution. As a result, it announced the abolition of the British protectorate in Egypt in 1922. One result would be to change the protectorate to a different type of system that would decide the independence of Egypt, while Britain would obtain, through the 1936 treaty, the advantages and guarantees that the protection had achieved, and this was confirmed. The terms of the treaty were a closed protection with a thin layer of future independence.
